Q. How long will it take to get my computer repaired?
A. When you bring your computer in, we usually tell you how quickly we can look at your computer. Depending on our current work load, we will usually look at your computer 1-3 days after your drop your computer off. Once we have looked at your computer and identified the problem, it usually takes at least one day to repair the problem. For instance tune-ups typically take 1 day to complete. More extensive software work, like a Windows reinstall where we have to backup your data, restore it, install drivers and updates, will usually take 2 or more days to complete. If parts must be ordered, or a part must be sent in for repair you could easily be looking at 1-2 weeks.
Q. Do you guarantee your work?
A. With most repairs we perform, when you leave our shop you are guaranteed to have a working computer. If a problem occurs a few days after leaving our shop, you can bring it back to us. If it is the same (hardware) problem your originally brought it in for, we will typically repair it for free – exceptions to this rule is if the problem requires replacement of additional hardware. With tune-ups, we guarantee that all viruses and malware are off your computer when it leaves our shop; however, since immediately after leaving our shop you could get on the internet and re-acquire a virus, we do not guarantee that your computer will repair virus/malware free. If you bring your computer in again we will perform a second cleanup for a discounted price.
Q. Do you charge anything to look at my computer?
A. We have a $20 minimum to diagnose your computer problem. If it is a laptop and we have to disassemble the computer to diagnose the problem, we charge $40. However, there are many cases where we look at and diagnose a computer problem for free – The general rule is if we can make a diagnosis in 15 minutes or less and determine that R-Tech Systems will not be able to repair your computer, we don't charge.
